Data sources and licences

WeatherPush combines data and software from the sources below. Thank you to everyone who makes them available.

Forecast

Forecast data: Norwegian Meteorological Institute (MET Norway, met.no), licensed under CC BY 4.0. Changes made by WeatherPush: the data is converted, summarised, supplemented with radar data and shown as charts and texts. MET Norway does not endorse WeatherPush or the way the data is used.

Rain radar

Rain radar and short-term forecast: source Deutscher Wetterdienst (DWD), Open Data under the GeoNutzV, retrieved through the free Bright Sky interface. Changes made by WeatherPush: the radar value at your location is converted to mm/h and combined with the forecast.

Place search

Place names and coordinates: GeoNames, licensed under CC BY 4.0. Changes made by WeatherPush: a selection of places (cities with at least 500 inhabitants) with their names in German and English, compiled into a local database.

Icons

Weather icons: Lucide (ISC licence). On Apple devices the app uses the SF Symbols of Apple Inc.

Open source software

WeatherPush uses open source software. The components that are delivered with the iOS app and the web app are listed below with their licences (the server and development tools are not). The Rust library UniFFI (MPL-2.0) is used unchanged; its source code is available at https://github.com/mozilla/uniffi-rs and on crates.io. The text of every licence is linked from the list.
